Hades BL 755

One of the directions that art has taken over the last century is the divergence from beauty towards more negative and previously unmentioned aspects of society. This series of sculptures follows this path and displays dissonance in a corroded figure.

Yet notwithstanding, the affirmative creative and aesthetic characteristics present within this series of sculptures, in my opinion, provide a beautiful illustration of the redeeming quality for which humanity is known; the creative ability to rebuild civilisations upon the remnants of the past.

Since the beginning of the international Fragments sculpture tour in London in 2007, the Fragments sculptures have become symbols of hope, working to remove the scourge of landmines from developing countries.    In association with No-More-Landmines & Adopt-A-Minefield of the United Nations and Cambodian Self Help Demining Fragment sculptures have undertaken clearance in Vietnam, Cambodia and Kosovo, land mapping in Angola and risk education in Afghanistan
